Meet the CMB Pattern Builder in PCC Studio

Turn any image into a full-sheet pattern, set a two-tone background, or build a pattern from scratch, all right inside the designer.

Patterns used to mean designing a full repeat in another program before uploading it. Now you can do it in PCC Studio. Upload one image, and the Pattern Builder tiles it across your sheet at whatever size and angle you want.

There are three ways to use it, depending on how much control you want. Each one has a quick video so you can watch it happen:

Seamless pattern: upload and go

This is the simple option, and it replaces the old pattern upload. If you already have an image you want repeated across your sheet, start here.

Watch: upload, make pattern, create pattern, adjust.

  1. Upload your image

Add the image you want to repeat. Logos, illustrations, and small motifs work best.

  2. Click Make Pattern

With your image selected, click Make Pattern to open the pattern options.

  3. Click Create Pattern

Your image is scaled and repeated across the whole canvas.

  4. Adjust size and rotation

Open the Pattern and Repeat Object controls to change how big each repeat is and what angle it sits at. Make it tiny for an all-over texture or large for a bold statement.

Two-tone: solid color for engraving.

Want a solid color ? Pick from our colors, use CMYK, or match a color from an image.

Watch: setting a two-tone sheet color behind your pattern.

Option A: choose a two-tone color

  1. Click Background

This opens your sheet and background settings.

  2. Pick your color next to Sheet Color

Click the color box beside Sheet Color and choose the two-tone color you want behind your pattern.

Option B: match a color from an image

  1. Upload an image with the color you want

This can be a photo, a brand file, or anything with the exact shade you're after.

  2. Use the eyedropper under Color

Open the Color button, choose the eyedropper, and click the color in your image. Your background updates to match.

  3. Delete the reference image

Once the color is set, delete the image. The background color stays.

Tip: The eyedropper method is great for matching a customer's brand color or a specific product they'll pair the piece with.

The Pattern Builder: every option

When you want more than a simple repeat, the full Pattern Builder gives you control over every part of your layout. There's a lot in here, so we put together a full video walking through each option.
