Two Tone Acrylic Sheet Products- UV Printed vs. Duets by Gemini

What is it?! 

Two tone acrylic is an acrylic product that has a visible top color, and a contrasting core color.  When you engrave the visible top color away, your core color becomes visible- this gives you a painted engrave look without all the hard work! 

There are a few different types of two tone on the market right now and we carry two of them- UV Printed two tones and Duets by Gemini. 

Our UV printed two tone acrylic sheets offer a HUGE range of colors- we can print any CMYK solid color on any of our over 550 acrylic sheet options, making the possibilities with printed two tone truly limitless. UV printed products however, may not be as durable as we'd like for heavily handled items such as acrylic keychains. You can counteract this with a UV protectant and sealer like Frog Juice. 

Duets By Gemini is an impact modified acrylic, made with a special manufacturing process that creates a much more durable use two tone for things like keychains. They also can be manufactured in a metallic finish, which you won't find with UV Printed Acrylic.  However, the duets can be harder to dial in the proper settings, and don't come in quite the range of options as UV printed Two Tones. In addition, if you're settings aren't quite right you may feel a stickiness present after lasering. This is due to the manufacturing process. You can try engraving a bit deeper or running a second pass.
