Understanding the Unique Characteristics of Specialty Acrylic Sheets
What to Know Before You Buy from a Wholesale Acrylic Supplier
At CMB Acrylic, we pride ourselves on offering one of the most diverse and high-quality selections of acrylic sheets available. From glitter-packed bolds to elegant pearls and hand-poured marbles, our specialty acrylic options open up endless possibilities for makers and businesses. But with so much variety also comes variation—and we believe in transparency so you can choose the right material for your project with confidence.
Below, we’re breaking down some of the distinct characteristics of our most popular specialty acrylic sheets, so you know exactly what to expect.
1. Chunkier & Full Glitter Sheets May Arrive With Natural Warping
Our 5/32" acrylic sheets and those with a chunky glitter composition are often created through a thicker casting process that enhances their bold, eye-catching look. Due to the nature of this manufacturing process, slight warping is considered normal and not a defect. If your project requires completely flat materials, we recommend considering a thinner alternative.
2. 1/16" Sheets: Slight Thickness Range for a True Cast Material
Our 1/16" acrylic sheets typically range from 0.06mm to 0.08mm thick, depending on the sheet. This is intentional and part of maintaining a true cast acrylic product—not an extruded alternative. The slight variation is a result of the casting process and helps maintain the integrity and workability our customers expect from high-quality cast acrylic.
3. Pearl Acrylic Sheets: Vibrant on One Side, Muted on the Other
Our pearl acrylic sheets are a customer favorite for their elegant shimmer and luxurious finish. However, the pearl depth and vibrant color is only visible on one side. The reverse side tends to have a more muted or flat appearance. This is a common trait across most pearl finishes and should be taken into account when planning double-sided or transparent projects.
4. Marble & Marble Glitter Sheets Are One-of-a-Kind
Our marble and marble glitter acrylic sheets are hand-poured, making each sheet completely unique. Because of this, patterns and swirls will vary greatly—and no two pieces are exactly alike. You may also see lighter or darker coloring in some areas compared to our photos. If you require perfect uniformity or matching pieces, marble-style acrylic may not be the best fit for your project.
5. Celluloid Acrylic Sheets Are Sold as Single-Sided
Celluloid-style acrylic sheets offer a classic and vintage look, but by nature of their manufacturing, they are sold as a single-sided product. The back side, under specific lighting conditions, may show fine scratches or inconsistencies. We always recommend using the top side as your “presentation side” to maintain a polished look.
6. Mirror Acrylic Sheets Feature a Textured Gray Backing
Our mirror acrylic sheets create their stunning reflective finish thanks to a specialized gray backing applied during manufacturing. This textured backing is essential to produce the mirror effect and is not intended to be used or displayed as a finished side. Always face the mirror side outward and handle with care to avoid scratching the mirrored surface. In addition, mirror acrylic is always an extruded product.
